GABRIEL/GABRIELLA
THE MAGICIAN
The role can be played by either a male or a female. For simplicity, the brochure is written as if the character is a male.

You are a poor but talented magician. You know a lot about electricity, and you have bought a ticket on an airship, hoping to get a free concert tour.

Career. Early in your career, the aristocratic illusionist Amadeus offered you to become his assistant and make up tricks for him. You refused, and he started disrupting your performances. You tried to repay him in the same way, but he had money and connections, while you did not. That's why you decided to go abroad. Your business was so bad, that you falsified a signature on a bank check. Unfortunately, the fraud was exposed and you went to jail. Now you're successful, but you hate Amadeus and want to destroy his career.

“Monster”. You met Dassin on the dirigible. He is interested in discoveries in psychology and often read the book “The Interpretation of Dreams” by Dr. Freud. Dassin trusted you: he told you that he is the result of an experiment by Dr. Stern (not in the game), created from parts of dead bodies and animated by electricity. He escaped and is trying to hide from Stern. He's afraid he'll be considered a “monster” and be destroyed. You feel sorry for him.
Dassin's body is scarred from Stern's experiments.

Magic trick. When Amadeus announced the trick, you looked around the library. You remembered the electrical diagram of the airship that Garin had shown you and realized that the library had a secret door to the starboard side of the airship. The door is held in place by electromagnets. If you press the secret button on the starboard side, the electromagnets turn off and the door can be pushed open. The door is the same thickness as the walls, so it can't be detected by tapping.

Someone else must have done the trick for Amadeus - he doesn't know anything about electricity. So he must have a secret accomplice here. If you can prove it, you'll destroy Amadeus' reputation.

You've realized that Amadeus put Dassin up to the trick and the trick is being done with the knowledge of Engineer Garin. You decided to outplay your opponent. You suggested Garin that he goes to the locked library instead of Dassin! Garin agreed. He said he would replace Dassin in the library and explain everything to him.

  • 17.00:
The passengers examined the library, made sure that no one could get through the portholes, and locked Amadeus with three locks at 17.00. Lupin, Adele and Satuola took the keys. Engineer Garin put an orange scarf on Dassin so that he could be followed when going on board, where people are dressed in wide fur coats and cannot be identified.
  • 17.00–17.10:
You went into the cabin. The following people were in the cabin with you: Adele, Garin, Dowel, Flagg, Clémont.
  • 17.10–17.20:
Amadeus entered the salon wearing a fur coat and covering his face with an orange scarf. You made a sign to Garin and together you went up to the starboard side. There was no one there. You made sure that Garin switched places with Dassin in the library. And you stayed on board to talk to Dassin.
  • В 17.21
the lights on the airship went out for a second. Strange power failure!
  • 17.22–17.30:
Dassin said he was cold and would like to warm up in his cabin. You returned to the cabin, there were Lupin, Satuola, Dowel, Flagg, Clémont.
  • At exactly 17.30
you were in the salon. Amadeus solemnly announced that Dassin was in the locked library. You announced that you had outdone Amadeus's trick of replacing Dassin with Garin! Everyone went to the library, opened the door and found Engineer Garin. Dead...
The killer, real or not, must be identified before arriving in Paris. Moreover, you need to convince the others to stick to the same story. Otherwise, the authorities will dig into every passenger's past. A story about prison will come out, and your career will be over.

You've examined the crime scene and found that the arms of the chair are made of brass with wires hidden through the legs of the chair. Somewhere, but not in the library, there's a switch that closes the circuit - when it's down, electricity flows into the chair. Now the power is off, the circuit is not closed.

Amadeus probably won't be able to determine how Garin was killed - expose him!

To figure out where the switch is, you need to look at the airship's wiring diagram. It's in the safe in Garin's quarters.

After the power failure, the airship's course may have been affected. The ship must be operated by someone with electrical knowledge. Like you.

In conversation, you can't help but make a few barbs about Amadeus.

GOALS:
  • To find Garin's killer before he arrives in Paris, or to get Amadeus charged with murder - so as not to be charged with murder yourself.
  • To prove that Amadeus didn't come up with the trick himself - to ruin his career.
  • To correct the course of the airship so it doesn't crash.
