DOWEL
DOWEL, THE BIOLOGIST
The role can be played by either a man or a woman. The brochure, for simplicity, is written as if the character was a male.

You are a professor of biology and medicine. You have bought a ticket on an airship to see Engineer Garin's high-energy beams.

Experiments. You specialize in transplanting animal organs to humans, your dream is to prove Darwin's theory and create a human from an animal. So far your efforts have been unsuccessful, but you haven't given up hope. Though your experiments are illegal.

Dr. Stern. A few years ago, you met Dr. Stern, who also seeks to create a human mind of his own. Also by illegal means. He sews artificial humans from dead body parts and tries to revive them. You've been to Stern's castle in the Swiss mountains and assisted in his experiments. Recently, Stern sent a letter saying that he had succeeded with electricity.

You're intrigued - has the doctor succeeded in bringing his creation to life? What did it turn out to be? A creepy monster or something else?

You are well aware of the special stitches Stern uses, and recognize them on any creature, alive or dead. There was a hint in Stern's letter that the result of his experiments was on Garin's airship. You should be careful when mentioning Stern's experiments: they are illegal and your participation in them damages your reputation.

On the airship you talk to Satuola - he is a professor of physics and has a good understanding of Arctic ethnography. He is fighting to save endangered northern nations and rare animals.

  • 16.00:
At 4 p.m. you and Clémont passed the cabin of Engineer Garin and unintentionally overheard the conversation: Garin was saying that a prototype of a beam cannon had been stolen from him, and asked your interlocutor to find the missing thing! The prototype, when it is charged, can be used to make just one shot.
  • 17.00:
When Amadeus announced the trick, you looked around the library, tapped the walls, and found no secret doors. The locks were functional, and the portholes were impossible for a human to fit through.
At exactly 5:00 p.m., Amadeus was locked in the library with three locks. Lupin, Adele and Satuola took the keys. Engineer Garin put an orange scarf on Dassin so that he could be followed when going on board, where people are dressed in wide fur coats and cannot be identified.
  • 17.00–17.10:
You went into the cabin. There were Gabriel, Adele, Garin, Lupin, Flagg, Clémont.
  • 17.10–17.20:
Gabriel and Garin came out together. Someone in a fur coat and an orange scarf hiding his face came in, you thought it was Dassin. That leaves Adele, Lupin, Flagg, Clémont.
  • В 17.21
Adele left the cabin, after a couple of minutes the lights on the airship went out for a second. At this time there were: Burns, Satuola, Lupin, Flegg, Clémont, and the man in the scarf in the salon.
  • 17.22–17.30:
There were Satuola, Lupin, Flegg, Clémont, Gabriel in the salon.
  • At exactly 17.30
in the salon, Amadeus announced that Dassin was in the locked library. Suddenly Gabriel claimed to have replaced Dassin with Engineer Garin. Garin was found in the library. Dead....

Did you not have time to discuss with Garin whether the beams from the ray gun could be used in medicine?

But if you have a prototype device, you'll be able to figure it out for yourself.

We have to find Garin's killer before he gets to Paris and convince the others to stick to the same story. Otherwise, the authorities will start digging into the passengers' pasts, find out you're doing illegal experiments. Your reputation will be tarnished, and no one will give you money for experiments.

Having examined the body of Garin, you have established: the cause of death was a powerful electric shock. There are burns on the hands of the corpse, so the electric current passed through them. The palms are on the metal parts of the armrests of the chair.

You like to debate the practicality of scientific discoveries even in this situation.

GOALS:
  • To find Garin's killer or declare what happened an accident before he arrives in Paris - so as not to be accused himself.
  • To obtain a prototype of a beam cannon or otherwise find out if this device can be used in medicine.
  • To find out the results of Dr. Stern's experiment.
